A man was wounded in a shooting in North Hollywood on Thursday afternoon, and police are searching for a suspect who remains at large.

The shooting was reported at approximately 12:05 p.m. in the 12000 block of Hamlin Street, near Laurel Canyon Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man was reportedly in an argument with a male suspect, who then opened fire, a department spokesman said. No one was in custody as of the latest update from LAPD.

An ambulance was summoned to transport the shooting victim. An update on his condition was not immediately available, police said.

Images from the scene showed evidence markers placed in the street and a white van parked against a car wash building while officers conducted their investigation.

Roy Romer Middle School is located near the shooting site. It was not immediately clear whether the campus was placed on lockdown following the incident.
